Showcasing Our Commitment to Supporting Independent Artists
Seymour’s Little Shop of Books fosters a welcoming space where independent artists can thrive. We emphasize quality, community-friendly products that enrich our community, guided by a vision to celebrate creativity and inspire readers of all ages.
Indie Artist Opportunities
Here at Seymour’s Little Shop, we understand how important it is for independent artists to find places where they can showcase their creations. From Writers to Photographers, Painters and Illustrators, here at the shop we have worked in many of these shoes and have first-hand knowledge on how it feels to see your work out where others can appreciate what you do as much as you do yourself. By meeting our shop’s unique guidelines, we can work together to bring your work to the community here in Mount Joy and beyond. Reach out when you can. We’d love to discuss what you can bring to our little shop and our community.
Vendor Product Availability
All books must be accessible through our trusted vendors, unless discussed with us to ensure understanding of availability and ordering. Handcrafted items can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Pricing Alignment
Products should be priced to align with our shop’s standards and customer expectations. We strive to have items here of all price ranges but do our best to adhere to industry standards when it comes to expected pricing of common items. Items must also adhere to expected profit margin (40-50%) to be considered.
Curated Selection Fit
One of the biggest compliments we receive here at the shop is our hand selected curation of books and items. All decisions are made with that curation in mind and one of the best ways to know if your work will fit with our collection is to stop in and see for yourself. We are always here with a smile and would love to speak with you in person about what you have. 😀
Can I have a few more details?
Sure! Below are a few more questions to help clear up what may be expected to bring independent work into our shop. None of these are steadfast rules, as exceptions to apply, but these are good starting points. Always feel free to send in your information with the form below and we can discuss, but these are a great starting point.
Can any artist submit their work?
Absolutely! We do not judge any work done by who the person is. Our criteria primarily extends to factors including quality of the work (particularly if it’s visible with the naked eye), how it fits within the collection of our shop, shop space availability, and pricing for the artist, the shop, and the customer.
How are products priced?
Prices are determined primarily by the artist itself, but generally should fall within the expected guidelines with an expected (40-50%) sales split. Some guidelines to consider
Children’s Picture Books: $9 – $20 (Paperback to Hardcover) Juvenile -Middle Grade: $9 – $20 (Paperback to Hardcover) Young Adult:$13 – $20 (Paperback to Hardcover) Adult Titles: $17 – $20 (Paperback, with exceptions) Adult Titles: $28 – $32 (Hardcover, with exceptions)
